Every life deserves a second chance
We provide shelter, care, and love to rescued dogs and cats in Ecuador while working to find them a safe and loving forever home.
🐾 Our Mision
A Light for Dogs and Cats was born from a commitment to protect and transform the lives of abandoned, abused, and vulnerable dogs and cats in Ecuador.
We work to provide them with rescue, veterinary care, nourishment, rehabilitation, and above all, a second chance. But our work does not end at the shelter. We also strive to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership, spaying and neutering, and the importance of treating animals with compassion and respect.
Because every life deserves care, dignity, and a safe place to call home.
We are a nonprofit foundation. 🐾

Stories That Transform
Luna
Rescues, recovery, and new beginnings.
A Puppy’s Journey to Recovery.
Rescued with severe ectoparasite dermatitis (mange), this sweet puppy began her skin recovery treatment and was successfully spayed right before her first heat cycle.
Healing Wounds
A journey of incredible courage.
After being hit by a car, Luna walked miles on three legs just to reach home. She needed urgent surgery to repair a displaced bone fracture. Thanks to compassionate support, her surgery was a success, and today Luna continues to heal step by step toward a full recovery.
Candy
Spayed to help her stay healthy and safe.
Candy is a one-year-old cat from La Florida whose family was facing financial hardship while caring for their son, who is battling cancer. We were able to support Candy’s spay surgery, helping her family provide her with the care she needs while preventing unwanted litters and promoting a healthier future.
